Further expansion to Campus Transit routes effective Nov. 3
Beginning Monday (Nov. 3), further expansion will be made to the Campus Transit Ross-Ade and Purdue Mall fixed routes. These changes come in response to rider feedback, on-the-ground observations, seasonal planning to provide expanded coverage during the colder months and collaboration with student governments and other campus partners.
Ross-Ade route
- Current: The Ross-Ade fixed route primarily serves stops surrounding Ross-Ade Stadium between Northwestern Avenue, Cherry Lane, David Ross Road and Stadium Avenue.
- New: In addition to the current path, the new route will expand to cover central campus between Northwestern Avenue, Grant Street, Mitch Daniels Boulevard and North University Street.
Purdue Mall route
- Current: The Purdue Mall route includes Stadium Avenue, Northwestern Avenue, Grant Street, Mitch Daniels Boulevard and North Martin Jischke Drive.
- New: The western boundary will extend beyond North Martin Jischke Drive to McCutcheon Drive, north to Third Street and then north on North Martin Jischke Drive with the remaining path unchanged.
The adjustments to the Ross-Ade fixed route are designed to expand service south to the perimeter of academic campus so riders can access those stops without having to transfer to the Purdue Mall loop near Armstrong Hall of Engineering.
The extension of the Purdue Mall fixed route adds three additional stops near residence halls and provides coverage that was previously served by the CityBus 41 Connector route before it was suspended in October.
“We’ve received feedback throughout the semester from student government leadership and others, along with some helpful suggestions in the recent Campus Transit survey,” said Jessica Robertson, associate vice president of Auxiliary Services. “I am grateful to those who have taken the time to let us know where there’s room for improvement.”
In addition to community feedback, Auxiliary Services staff have conducted their own in-depth review of how students, faculty and staff are using the system.
“My team has been studying rider behaviors, observing routes firsthand and evaluating what’s working and what’s not,” Robertson said. “We’re also planning ahead for the changing of seasons to ensure reliable service year-round.”
At this time, the Discovery Park route and on-demand locations remain unchanged. Auxiliary Services will continue to monitor Campus Transit usage and evaluate complete survey results to determine if additional adjustments will be made.
The Campus Transit webpage and app will be updated to reflect the expanded routes prior to Nov. 3.
