Note of appreciation for emergency simulation participants
We want to extend our sincere appreciation and congratulations to everyone involved in the recent PUR-1 Reactor Drill. This emergency simulation plays a critical role in ensuring the university’s preparedness and reinforces our commitment to safety and operational excellence.
The success of this drill is a direct result of the strong collaboration across multiple departments and partners. Administrative Operations staff in Environmental Health and Safety, the Purdue University Fire and Police Departments and the Office of Emergency Preparedness worked seamlessly with Dr. Kim in Nuclear Engineering, reactor staff, Dr Nie and her students in Health Sciences (HSCI 534) and Michael Bayci of Franciscan Health. This cross-functional effort reflects the very best of what Administrative Operations stands for—safe, reliable and transformative service delivered through teamwork.
Exercises like these allow us to test our systems, fine-tune our emergency protocols and foster meaningful relationships between academic, operational and public safety partners. Thank you all for your professionalism, preparedness and dedication to keeping our campus safe.
