Recognizing our dispatchers for National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week
Please join me in recognizing our public safety dispatchers for National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week next week (April 13-19). It is a time to recognize dispatchers who play a critical role in providing emergency services. Dispatchers are the first point of contact when someone calls for help during a time of need. They are expected to remain calm and provide thorough instructions while potentially saving lives.
At the Purdue Public Safety Dispatch Center, we are fortunate to have several skilled dispatchers who are vital in keeping the campus safe. They are there to answer 911 calls and dispatch emergency services. They are also tasked with activating the campus all-hazard warning system (PurdueALERT) during an emergency, monitoring security systems across the West Lafayette location and coordinating efforts with local, state and federal agencies.
Please take some time to honor our public safety dispatchers for the work they perform 24/7 to keep Boilermakers safe. Let them know we are grateful for their hard work and dedication.
Sincerely,
Jay Wasson, Vice President for Physical Facilities and Chief Public Safety Officer
