Reminder: Restart computer daily for software updates
Purdue IT is reminding staff that they should restart their machines, regardless of work location, on a daily basis. To facilitate critical software updates and promote overall computer health, the following steps are recommended:
- Restart the computer at the end of each shift
- Leave the computer powered on
- Remain plugged into the network or connected to the VPN (webvpn2.purdue.edu is suggested)
For shared computers, supervisors are encouraged to complete these steps daily.
Users are also encouraged to check the Software Center for non-critical updates and install them as they are available. Instructions are available in a Knowledge Base article.
