Self-service printer installation coming March 4
Purdue’s IT Endpoint Support Services (ESS) is rolling out a new self-service option for AO staff to install departmental printers on their work machines beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday (March 4).
At that time, the Print Deploy Client will be available for download from the Software Center, which is required to self-install printers. Portable devices like laptops must be hardwired to the network within a user’s building to install available printers. Additional steps to add a printer are included in an IT Knowledge Base article.
Printers that are already installed on an ESS-supported computers will be unaffected by this change and should continue to be available for use.
AO staff who work in multiple buildings may need to contact AO Computing to access printers that are not shown in the Print Deploy Client. Staff should provide the printer name as displayed on a white sticker on the front of the device to AO Computing.
