- Purdue University has been recognized as a Center of Actuarial Excellence by the Society of Actuaries (SOA). The SOA provides a list of Universities and Colleges with Actuarial Programs that serves as a resource for students looking for a university/college actuarial program. This list is composed of three levels of recognition, the highest being CAE (Center of Actuarial Excellence). The CAE designation recognizes programs that have met highly specific criteria related to degree(s) offered, curriculum, graduate count, faculty composition, graduate quality, appropriate integration with other areas of study, connection to industry, actuarial research and professional involvement. The program also allows universities and colleges with outstanding actuarial programs the opportunity to be recognized for that achievement and to compete for grants for education and research. Purdue actuarial science is in the Department of Mathematics in the College of Science.
