Appointments, honors and activities

Appointments and promotions:

Rapheal Davis (Purdue class of 2016) will join the Purdue for Life Foundation as director of development in the College of Pharmacy on Monday (Dec. 6). Davis currently works as a men’s basketball analyst for the Big Ten Network and is the founder of Crew Life Inc., a nonprofit he built from the ground up to be an all-inclusive youth mentoring program. He will continue his involvement with these organizations along with his new position.

The Center for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue welcomes Leon Panetta, former U.S. secretary of defense and former director of the Central Intelligence Agency, to its distinguished bipartisan Global Advisory Board. Panetta joins Gen. Stanley McChrystal, Dr. Dan Goldin, Ambassador Robert Hormats, and other luminaries as a key advisor to the leadership of the Center for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue, the world’s preeminent institution for securing freedom through tech diplomacy. Notables

The Union Club Hotel at Purdue’s Memorial Union has recently earned three prestigious awards following the redesign in 2020.  The historic hotel received “Best Boutique Hotel of 2021” from BLLA’s StayBoutique Awards, “Best Hotel Renovation/Restoration” from the 2021 Sleeper Magazine Awards and “Best Lobby Design” from Boutique Design’s Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design. Considering these recent accolades, the Union Club Hotel is unveiling new offerings for the holiday season. More information is available online.

 

Student honors:

Lily Assaad, graduate student in the Department of Psychological Sciences, recently received the Elsie Ramos Award from the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT). The ABCT Awards Program recognizes individuals for their contributions to the field of behavioral and cognitive therapy. Assaad received this award in honor of her recent and innovative research, specifically for a poster she presented, “Disorders Relate Differently to Actors’ and Partners’ Romantic Relationship Satisfaction: A Meta-Analysis,” at the 2021 ABCT meeting, She was recognized at the ABCT members meeting in November.
