Music group Choir! Choir! Choir! to lead Purdue Homecoming audiences in sing-alongs at Slayter Center

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Convocations presents Toronto-based singing group Choir! Choir! Choir! to lead three Homecoming Week sing-alongs at Slayter Center for the Performing Arts.

Led by creative directors Nobu Adilman and Daveed Goldman, the duo takes a nontraditional approach; there are no auditions, and the audience is the choir. Each of the themed performances will include an original arrangement to a song audiences will know and love.

The first performance at 7:30 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 30) will feature the theme “The Beatles Jukebox.” At 6 p.m. Friday (Oct. 1), Choir! Choir! Choir! presents “Don’t Stop Believin’ in the ‘80s” before the Purdue Homecoming Parade. At 9 p.m., after the parade, the duo will lead the themed sing-along “I Want It That 2000s Pop Way.” Each of the three performances at Slayter Center is free and open to the public

Founded in 2011, Choir! Choir! Choir! has amassed a dedicated and passionate community of singers and a thriving international fan base on YouTube, with tens of millions of views on some of its videos. The group has performed with renowned artists such as Patti Smith, David Byrne, Rick Astley, Tegan and Sara, and Rufus Wainwright, and onstage at New Yorks Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall with the likes of Debbie Harry and The Flaming Lips.

“Blurring the boundary between artist and audience, Choir! Choir! Choir! reminds us of the pleasure and power that comes from putting our voices together,” said Todd Wetzel, Purdue Convocations executive director. “As Purdue alumni and friends take giant leaps home after a long hiatus, these three joyous performances will be a wonderful closure to our fall outdoor series before we announce our return to in-theater events on Oct. 7.”

In addition to being featured as part of Purdue Homecoming, Choir! Choir! Choir! caps off Purdue’s Weeks of Welcome, an initiative by the vice provost for student life to highlight the thousands of events and programming taking place during the first six weeks of the fall 2021 semester. Choir! Choir! Choir! attendees are encouraged to share content on social media with the hashtags #PurdueWoW and #PurdueHomecoming.

Choir! Choir! Choir! is presented by Purdue Convocations with support from the Student Concert Committee and the Student Fee Advisory Board. For details and to RSVP to any or all of the three performances, go online.
