Learning circle for community coaches scheduled

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue Extension Community Development is hosting a Community Coaching Learning Circle, a professional development opportunity for those interested in developing their community coaching skills.

Registered participants will gain access to the online course on Aug. 23 with live Zoom meetings 2-3:30 p.m. ET every other Monday, beginning Aug. 30 and ending Nov. 8.

“The objective of this course is to equip individuals on how to be an effective community coach. This includes learning about what is a community coach, what they do, how to work with community groups well and how to improve their skill set,” said Tanya Hall, Purdue Extension community development regional educator.

Participants will:

  • Increase knowledge of the principles and practices of community coaching.
  • Reflect on and increase self-awareness of roles in different groups.
  • Identify community coaching styles and personal philosophy.
  • Deepen the capacity to coach community groups in a variety of situations.
  • Build a network of colleagues to support continued learning and practice.

Register online by Aug.18. The cost for the course is $450. Participants must have prior experience working with community groups/teams and guiding these groups through the process of achieving their goals. Contact Cindy Barber at castone@purdue.edu with additional questions.
