Appointments, honors and activities

  • Appointments and promotions:

Ayşe Çiftçi, professor of counseling psychology and former associate department head of educational studies, has been named as the new department head of educational studies. The three-year appointment began July 1. More information.

Purdue’s College of Education has announced the reappointment of Janet Alsup as head of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction for a second three-year term, effective July 1. More information


  • Faculty and staff honors:

Hua-Hua Chang, professor of educational psychology and research methodology in Purdue’s College of Education, has received the 2021 Award for Career Contributions from the National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME), a professional organization for individuals involved in assessment, evaluation, testing and other aspects of educational measurement.   • Student honors:

Terron Phillips, a Ph.D. student in the College of Education, has received the William J. Fowler, Jr. and Patricia R. Fowler Education Finance Policy Research Grant, a prestigious award supporting graduate students focused on applied research for the improvement of education finance and budgeting practice. Funded by the contributions of William and Mrs. Patricia Fowler and administered through the National Education Finance Academy (NEFA) , the award recognizes excellence among emerging education finance and policy scholars.   • Rankings:

The Purdue Honors College has been named one of the nation’s top 20 honors colleges and programs. The recognition comes from College Transitions, the only admissions consulting provider with an active research agenda in higher education, and is based on multiple criteria, including admissions selectivity, course offerings and housing options.
