Appointments, honors and activities

  • Appointments and promotions:

- Marcus Rogers is the new executive director of the Purdue Cyber Apprenticeship Program. Rogers is assistant dean of cybersecurity initiatives for Purdue Polytechnic Institute and chief scientist for the Tippecanoe County High Tech Crime Unit.

  • Student honors:

- An interdisciplinary science and policy team organized by the Center for Science of Information at Purdue won a global XPRIZE Challenge. The challenge was coordinated by the Open Data Institute and sponsored by Microsoft (see Microsoft's post about the team). The Open Data Challenge investigated the lack of access to reliable and fast internet connections for learners in the U.S. (and globally), especially in the light of ongoing COVID-19 pandemic pressures. Members from Purdue on the winning six-member team were Alison Grant, a doctoral candidate in applied economics; Nathan R. Kanter, undergraduate in data visualization/web programming and design; and Brent T. Ladd, director of the Center for Science of Information.

  • Rankings:

- Concord Law School at Purdue University Global has been named to the Princeton Review’s 2021 Best Online JD Programs list.
