Appointments, honors and activities

Faculty and staff honors:

- Valeria Sinclair-Chapman, associate professor of political science, and Daniel DeLaurentis, professor in the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics have won 2020 Leadership in Action awards from Purdue’s Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership Excellence. The annual award recognizes faculty, staff and students whose leadership has made a positive impact on their work and community. Honorees “must demonstrate ongoing commitment to engagement at the local, state, national, and/or global level; active service to the campus community; and national service to academic and/or professional organizations.” Provost Jay Akridge and Mangala Subramaniam, professor and director of the Butler Center, presented the awards during a virtual award ceremony in March.

 

Notables:

-  The United States Institute for Theatre Technology held its 2021 virtual conference in March, and it featured content from a current Purdue student, alumna and faculty member. Issy Block, theatre engineering student, and Elena Helvajian, theatre engineering alumna, spoke at the “piVot2:The Nucleus of Networking” session. Davin Huston, assistant professor of practice in the School of Engineering Technology in the Purdue Polytechnic Institute, and the Department of Theatre, spoke regularly throughout the week as part of the conference.
