Appointments, honors and activities

  • Faculty and staff honors:

Wei Zheng, professor of health sciences, has been chosen by the Society of Toxicology to receive its 2021 Education Award due to his significant contributions as an educator, researcher and mentor to other toxicologists. Zheng will be honored during the virtual 2021 SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo set for March 12–26. Zheng joined Purdue n 2003 and has since taught toxicology, public health, occupational and environmental health, analytic toxicology and pathology and biochemical toxicology. He has played an indispensable role in building Purdue’s toxicology research and education programs.

  • Student honors:

Meredith Bucher, a doctoral student in Department of Psychological Sciences, was recently recognized for her research excellence with the Gunderson Young Investigator Award from the North American Society for the Study of Personality Disorders (NASSPD). Bucher is a sixth-year doctoral student in clinical psychology whose research focuses on the diagnosis of mental disorders. She has a particular focus on the clinical implementation of dimensional models of psychopathology. Bucher received this award for a paper she authored along with her research mentor, Doug Samuel, titled “Mapping a Hierarchical Dimensional Structure of High Experiential Permeability: A Bass-Ackwards Approach to Linking Measures of Schizotypy and Openness.” As a part of this award, Bucher will be recognized at the NASSPD members meeting in April 2021. She receives a $1,000 cash prize and publishing of this paper in the journal Personality Disorders: Theory, Research, and Treatment.
