Focus Forward Fellowship accepting applications for 2020 program

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Applications are being accepted for the annual Focus Forward Fellowship, sponsored by Purdue University’s Military Family Research Institute (MFRI).

The fellowship is a program designed for women student veterans and service members who are active duty military, National Guard or reserves. Preference is provided to those who are pursuing an undergraduate education. They must have a 2.5 GPA or better.

Focus Forward will take place in July 29-Aug. 1 in Indianapolis, followed by online community engagement through the academic year.

The program, in its fifth year, has supported 81 women veterans and service members representing five branches of the military from 28 states and 52 higher education institutions.

Focus Forward also is looking for women to serve as mentors for the new class. Throughout the years, 97 women, representing 79 organizations, have served as mentors.

“Mentorship is a significant part of the program, as well, as we bring in a variety of mentors to engage with the Fellowship participants in different capacities,” said Keara Ludiker, education and employment program specialist with MFRI.

Applications may be submitted online. For more information on serving as a mentor, contact Ludiker at kludiker@purdue.edu or 765-494-0048.
