Campus community asked to weigh in on EMPV use

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — An online survey is now active for students, faculty and staff to offer feedback on the use of electric and motor-powered vehicles on the Purdue University campus.

The survey, which should only take a few minutes to complete, will provide members of the EMPV task force with information as it:

  1. Assesses safety issues associated with EMPVs and traditional human-powered bicycles and skateboards on campus.
  2. Makes recommendations for changes in campus policies or procedures that will add a layer of safety for the movement of individuals around campus.

The task force, announced by Purdue President Mitch Daniels in December after a rash of incidents, will examine existing regulations and how and whether those should be expanded or adjusted.

The task force is co-chaired by Carol Shelby, senior director of environmental health and public safety, and Purdue trustee Noah Scott, a senior in Polytechnic Institute. The task force will share its recommendations with an ad hoc committee of the University Senate, which is working to improve the communication and understanding of existing rules and policies related to on-campus transportation.

BoilerKey two-factor authentication is needed to access the survey, which can be found on the EMPV task force website.
