Purdue’s history in flight continues in second edition of ‘Wings of Their Dreams’
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A second edition of John Norberg’s “Wings of Their Dreams: Purdue in Flight” continues the story of Purdue University’s contributions to the aviation industry.
The book, released on Tuesday (Oct. 15), features updates to the stories of Purdue’s pilots and astronauts and their roles in aviation history.
Norberg wrote and released the first edition of the book in 2003 to be timed with the centennial of flight. The book featured profiles and stories that have been now updated for the second edition of the book, including all of Purdue’s living astronauts. Two brand new astronaut profiles have been added, as well as a chapter about Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger’s historic landing on the Hudson River.
The book is being published by Purdue University Press and can be purchased online.
Norberg is a writer, author and humorist, and retired director of communications for development at Purdue. He also is the author of six other books, including “Spacewalker: My Journey in Space and Faith as NASA's Record-Setting Frequent Flyer,” which details the story of astronaut Jerry Ross.
