Appointments, honors and activities
- Andrea DeMaria, assistant professor of public health, was selected as a 2019 winner of “120 Under 40: The New Generation of Family Planning Leaders,” an initiative by the Bill & Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The award recognizes DeMaria’s work advancing family planning and reproductive health. More information is online. (JP)
- Vladimir Shalaev, the Robert and Anne Burnett Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been selected as the 2020 recipient of the Frank Isakson Prize for Optical Effects in Solid Materials, presented by American Physical Society. The award, given out every other year, recognizes outstanding optical research that leads to breakthroughs in the condensed matter sciences. More information on the award can be found online.
