Appointments, honors and activities
- WBAA, public radio at Purdue, won two awards at the Public Radio News Directors Incorporated’s annual conference. WBAA won the Newscast category for work done on Jan. 25, 2018; and also won the Student News Spot, for a story intern reporter Chloe Weber completed on law enforcement’s training for an urban active shooter situation. WBAA won seven awards from the Indiana chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, including a first-place honor for Emilie Syberg’s reporting on food banks struggling after President Donald Trump’s bailout of farmers hurt by the trade war with China. Alumni honors:
- Dane Albaugh, an alumnus of the Purdue University’s Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering and co-founder of Predictive Wear, was named a fellow of the Mitch Daniels Leadership Foundation (MDLF), a nonprofit program aimed at recruiting and developing leaders who want to drive change in Indiana.
