Appointments, honors and activities

Faculty and staff honors:

- Julie Liu, an associate professor in the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering, has been selected as a 2019-20 Fellow in Drexel University's Executive Leadership in Academic Technology, Engineering and Science program. ELATES is a unique professional leadership program, designed to advance senior women faculty in academic engineering, computer science, and other STEM fields, preparing them to assume institutional leadership roles within their schools and universities. Notables:

- The Intercultural Learning Hub (HubICL) received an Innovation in Technology award at the GoAbroad Innovation Awards for its efforts to provide a science gateway for international educators to collaborate with one another. Nominees were evaluated based on the success of implementing the technology, how it stands out from other resources in the field, and its overall impact to the staff or student experience. HubICL received the award May 31 in Washington, D.C., at the NAFSA Annual Conference. Comprised of about 460 members from 180 institutions worldwide, HubICL provides an online collaborative space in which researchers, educators, and entrepreneurs in intercultural learning can share knowledge, research, tools and tips.

Student honors:

- The Military Family Research Institute at Purdue University recently announced its 2019 Focus Forward Fellowship cohort. The program will be held July 17-20 at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. After completing the residency, fellows will engage with their cohort in an online community during the 2019–20 academic year. MFRI covers the cost of travel, food, lodging, activities and materials.
