Appointments, honors and activities

Faculty and staff honors:

- Mohammad Rahman was selected for INFORM’s 2018 Information Systems Society Sandy Slaughter Early Career Award. The prize recognizes Rahman as an early career individual on a path toward making outstanding intellectual contributions to the information systems discipline. Rahman was honored with the award in November during the Conference on Information and Systems and Technology.** (JP)\

- Vicki L. Simpson, assistant professor of nursing in the College of Health and Human Sciences, recently received the Hulman Excellence in Health Science Research Award from the Indiana Public Health Association. She was honored for her work in addressing issues of food insecurity with teenagers from low-income families across Indiana; health promotion in older adults by studying how Medicare populations receive their annual Medicare wellness exams; and the development of the Get Healthy Scott County – Recovery Happens data hub to address measurements of opioid recovery.

Rankings:

- Purdue was ranked 14th in College Factual’s 2019 Best Colleges for Veterans, a list ranking 1,820 universities and colleges. This puts Purdue in the top 1 percent nationally, moving up one spot from the previous year’s rankings. Purdue was ranked as the best school for veterans in the state for a second consecutive year. Affordability for veterans, support services and resources specific to veterans’ needs, coupled with overall aspects relatable to any student, are used to comprise the rankings.
