WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – “Something Rotten!” the musical comes to Purdue University’s Elliott Hall of Music on Sept. 23 at 7 p.m.

The musical is set in South London in 1595, featuring the story of Nick and Nigel Bottom — two brothers

desperate to get on top by writing a hit play that outdoes the overbearing William Shakespeare. When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing, and acting at the same time, the brothers set out to write the world’s very first musical.

The performance is presented by Purdue Convocations with support from Kettlehut Construction and Westminster Village. Tickets for the general public range from $26-$58, while student tickets range from $26-$41.

Tickets are available at the Stewart Center box office at 765-494-3933 or 800-914-SHOW. Group tickets are also available to groups of 10 more. Call 765-496-1977 or visit https://purdue.edu/convocations/group-sales/ for more details.

The musical “Something Rotten!" was originally directed and choreographed on Broadway by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (“Mean Girls,” “The Book of Mormon,” “Aladdin”), with music and lyrics by Grammy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Wayne Kirkpatrick.

The touring production is “a deliriously entertaining new musical comedy that brings down the house,” according to the New York Post.
