Purdue panel will respond to USDA’s August crop report

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. –  Purdue Extension experts, the USDA’s state statistician for Indiana, and the director of the Indiana Department of Agriculture will gather at this year’s Indiana State Fair to comment on the strategically critical USDA August Crop Report. Karen Plaut, the Glenn W. Sample Dean of the Purdue College of Agriculture, will convene the panel on Aug. 10 at 1:30 p.m. in the Farm Bureau Building Banquet Hall.

Panel participants will include Greg Matli, representing USDA’s National Agricultural

Statistics Service; Bob Nielsen, Purdue professor of agronomy and Extension expert in Indiana’s corn management systems; Shaun Casteel, Purdue associate professor of agronomy and Extension soybean and small grains specialist; and Chris Hurt, professor of agricultural economics specializing in family farm market problems, pricing strategies, and livestock futures market problems, pricing strategies, and livestock futures market performance.  

Panel participants will be available for questions following their official comments.
