Purdue panel to provide insights and respond to questions regarding August Crop Report and current agricultural economic climate
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – From tariffs to climate, there are no shortage of topics to discuss at this year’s response to the USDA August Crop Report. Karen Plaut, the Glenn W. Sample Dean of the Purdue College of Agriculture, will convene a panel of Purdue Extension experts and the USDA Indiana statistician on Friday (Aug. 10) at 1:30 p.m. in the Farm Bureau Building Banquet Hall at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
Panel participants will include Greg Matli, representing USDA’s National Agricultural
Statistics Service; Bob Nielsen, Purdue professor of agronomy and Extension expert in Indiana’s corn management systems; Shaun Casteel, Purdue associate professor of agronomy and Extension soybean and small grains specialist; Austin Pearson, Extension county director and climate change specialist; and Chris Hurt, professor of agricultural economics specializing in family farm market problems, pricing strategies, and livestock futures market problems, pricing strategies, and livestock futures market performance.
Panel participants will be available for questions following their comments.
