Appointments, honors and activities

Student honors:

- The Purdue Research Center for Open Digital Innovation honored four students from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (UNAL) for their work in the spring IronHacks competition. Juan Cardenas Gomez, Miller Correa Gonzalez and Maria Robayo Sepulveda, all undergradauate students studying systems engineering at UNAL, were honored for Best Solution. John Montoya Gomez, also an undergraduate student studying systems engineering at UNAL, as well as Juan Cardenas Gomez and Sepulveda were Best Spirit winners. The competition, held in collaboration with UNAL, is a five-stage, open data competition focusing on digital innovations that make a social impact. For the competition, UNAL students were tasked with helping new students at the New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business find a safe and affordable place to live near campus using data from the website data.gov.
