Appointments, honors and activities

Faculty and staff honors:

- Sandra Kuebler, clinical assistant professor at the Purdue University School of Nursing, has been accepted to the distinguished Edmond J. Safra Visiting Nurse Faculty Program at the Parkinson’s Foundation. One of only 35 people accepted in 2018, Kuebler will take part in an accredited program that trains faculty leaders to educate nursing students about the needs of Parkinson’s patients. The course includes didactics, clinical sessions with patients, participation in support groups and more. Each participant also receives a $2,000 stipend for completing the program, which takes place in May at the University of Toledo.

- Donna Zoss, continuing lecturer and assistant director for the Didactic Program in Dietetics at Purdue, is being recognized as the 2018 Outstanding Dietetics Educator by the Indiana Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Zoss has been a registered dietician for 29 years and an educator in the Department of Nutrition Science for 17 years. She will be recognized at the Indiana Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics annual meeting this month.

Student honors:

- Three students in Purdue University’s Master of Science in the Business Analytics and Information Management program won the Best Student Paper award at the 2018 Midwest Decision Sciences Institute Conference in Indianapolis. Yash Ambegaokar, Anand Deshmukh and Meena Kewlani took the top spot for “Risky Business: Predicting Cancellations in Imbalanced Multi-Classification Settings,” which studied the implications of situations where there is a high cost of misclassification. The faculty co-author on the piece was Matthew Lanham, clinical assistant professor in quantitative methods.
