Purdue launches ‘Ever True: Campus Campaign’ for faculty, staff, retirees and students

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — With “Purdue Pride” as its theme, the newly launched “Ever True: Campus Campaign” is inviting faculty, staff, retirees and students to support the university through private giving, with a goal of increasing the number of faculty and staff donors from 4,700 to 9,000. The initiative is part of “Ever True: The Campaign for Purdue University.”

“It’s an opportunity for the campus community to support what they love most about Purdue — to extend their Purdue pride — by advancing the university financially as well as through what’s given in time and talent,” says Cara Giese, Campus Campaign chair and director of development in planned giving.

The Campus Campaign was introduced on April 26 in conjunction with Purdue Day of Giving, which raised a record-breaking $28.2 million. Of 15,181 gifts made, approximately 28 percent came from faculty, staff, retirees and students.

For those who did not participate in Purdue Day of Giving 2017 or who would like to contribute beyond this year, the Campus Campaign provides an ongoing philanthropic opportunity through June 30, 2019, when it concludes with the overarching “Ever True” campaign.

Donors may contribute any amount to any area, including academic units, special programs or scholarships for students, and staff professional development funds. Contributing online, through planned giving and by payroll deduction, are popular options.

“I like that payroll deduction lets you drill down to specific entities on campus,” says Jenny Ricksy, graduate program administrator in the Lyles School of Civil Engineering, who contributes to civil engineering, the clerical service grant program and Purdue Athletes Life Success program, or PALS. “I eat, sleep and live Purdue. We’re a great research university, with great faculty and staff. Contributing financially to Purdue makes everybody better — and makes it better for everybody.”

Any gifts made by faculty, staff, retirees and students between the launch of the overarching “Ever True” campaign on July 1, 2012, and June 30, 2019, including gifts made through Purdue Day of Giving, count toward both the “Ever True” campaign and the Campus Campaign.
