WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Families in business can learn how to develop an effective management succession plan in a two-day workshop hosted by the Purdue Initiative for Family Firms (PIFF).
“Keeping the Business in Your Family” will be held March 9-10 at Purdue University’s Beck Agricultural Center, 4540 U.S. 52 W, West Lafayette.

* Communication in the family business.
* Developing a shared vision for the future.
* Assessing your resources.
* Working with family and staying friends.
* Different ways to share ownership and other legal questions.
“As you look toward the future of your business operation, there are many issues to consider,” said Maria Marshall, professor of agricultural economics and PIFF director. “One issue of extreme importance is the development of a son, daughter or partner to be the future manager of your business. This workshop provides information and work time to develop answers for many issues involved with bringing a new manager into the operation.”
For those who register before Feb. 24, registration is $250 for a family of three. After Feb. 24, the cost is $300. Registration deadline is March 1.
