MV-22 Osprey coming to Purdue University Airport as part of Purdue Research Park Aerospace dedication

WEST LAFAYETTE – Ind. – Purdue Research Park announces that a United States Marine Corps. MV-22 Osprey will fly into the Purdue University Airport around 10:10 a.m. ET Thursday (March 23) and be available for public viewing as part of a daylong celebration to dedicate the Purdue Research Park Aerospace District.

The Osprey will come from the Marine Helicopter Squadron One, the Washington D.C. unit that serves the President of the United States.

Those who wish to see the Osprey arrive and land should arrive at the airport by 9:30 a.m. or to watch the aircraft lift off and leave the airport arrive by 2:15 p.m. The event will be live-streamed as well. Connect to http://www.kaltura.com/tiny/yxamn to watch the landing event.

The MV-22 Osprey will be on display at the airport runway from 10:30 a.m. until takeoff around 2:40 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. The first 300 visitors will receive tickets to walk through the Osprey, with additional opportunities provided if time permits.

The USMC also will have a ground exhibit of two USMC-wrapped HUMVEEs on site with five Marines. Three Marine pilots and two crew members will accompany the Osprey.

The Purdue University Airport is located at 1501 Aviation Drive, West Lafayette, Indiana. Signs for parking will be posted and a shuttle will take visitors to and from the airport.

The event kicks off the dedication of the Purdue Technology Center Aerospace, the first building in the 940-acre aerospace district. The center will house the Rolls-Royce jet engine R&D group. Rolls-Royce occupies about 60 percent of the 55,000-square-foot facility where it will conduct the design, development and testing of jet engine components.
