Concert organized to benefit Purdue Center for Cancer Research
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — An event featuring music, food and a silent auction is being organized to benefit the Purdue Center for Cancer Research.
The People vs. Cancer: A Benefit Concert will occur at 7 p.m. April 7 at the Lafayette Theater, 600 Main St., Lafayette. The Tratio Experience and Vertigo 42 will perform beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for students and $20 for the general public if purchased in advance either online or at the Purdue Graduate Student Center, 504 Northwestern Ave. Tickets can be purchased at the door but will cost $5 more.
The Tratio Experience is a Lafayette-based cover band that plays music from all eras. Vertigo 42 is a Purdue-based rock band that features members from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. The group covers Hindi and English rock songs.
Purdue Graduate Student Government is organizing the event with a goal of raising $8,000, a majority of which will be from the silent auction and ticket sales. All money raised will be given to the Purdue Center for Cancer Research.
The event is also presented by the Lafayette Theatre and held in remembrance of students, faculty and friends of the Purdue student body who lost their lives to cancer.
