WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The 1869 Tap Room in Purdue Memorial Union will now be open 4:30-9 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Bryan Gutridge, associate director of catering, said the Tap Room also has domestic bottles of beer for sale alongside the offerings from People's Brewing Co., a local microbrewery. Prices on pints and several menu items have been reduced.

The 1869 Tap Room, located east of Pappy's Sweet Shop, opened in October as a collaboration between Purdue Dining & Catering, the Department of Food Science and People's. It serves pints of three different beers produced by People's, glasses of Indiana-based red and white wines and offers an appetizer menu through Pappy's.

Future plans call for an educational display that highlights Purdue research in fermentation science and hops production. People's works closely with hops researchers in the College of Agriculture and fermentation specialists in the Department of Food Science. Some of the hops used by People's are locally grown and are varieties studied at Purdue.
