Purdue College of Pharmacy honors 2016 distinguished alumni

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. —The faculty of the Purdue College of Pharmacy honored four distinguished alumni on April 1 during its 2016 annual program.

The college also presented alumnus Gregory D. Wasson with the Career Achievement Award, the pinnacle award bestowed upon alumni who have distinguished themselves through a lifetime of exemplary service in the field of pharmacy and service to Purdue.

Jeffrey E. Browne, Marcia L. Buck, Terry L. Holcslaw and Louise Johnson are this year's recipients of the distinguished alumni award.

* Wasson (BS 1981) is co-founder and president of Wasson Enterprise and former president and Chief Executive Officer of Walgreen Boots Alliance.

* Browne (BS 1975, Ph.D. 1979) is director of science & technology at Catalent Pharma Solutions.

* Buck (BS 1986, PharmD 1987) is clinical pharmacy coordinator and director, PGY2-Pediatric Pharmacy Residency Program, University of Virginia Children's Hospital; associate professor of pediatrics, University of Virginia School of Medicine; and clinical professor at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy.

* Holcslaw (MS 1972, Ph.D. 1974) is vice president of business development at New Drug Development Services, Inc.

*Johnson (BS 1973) is former senior vice president, global head of research and development quality assurance at Takeda Pharmaceuticals Company, Ltd.

The College of Pharmacy initiated the distinguished alumni awards in 1984. They are conferred annually upon selected alumnus or alumnae in recognition of their outstanding achievements in professional and scientific endeavors.
