Purdue on normal schedule; advises care in travel

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue is on normal operations for Thursday (Feb. 25), but some road conditions might impact drivers.

Carol Shelby, senior director for environmental health and public safety, said Tippecanoe and several other counties were on the lowest level of travel advisory, while counties to the north, including Warren, Benton, White and Carroll, issued higher level alerts due to snowfall and road conditions.

"Commuters should leave themselves extra time to get to their destination and evaluate their local conditions to assess their ability to travel safely," Shelby said. “Some professors may have canceled their classes, so students should follow any class notification procedures in place."

Purdue University Parking Facilities on Wednesday (Feb. 24) announced that it is relaxing enforcement in most campus parking garages and surface lots to encourage students and staff to move parked vehicles off nearby streets. The relaxed enforcement, designed to make it easier and safer for road crews to clear streets, will expire at 7 a.m. Friday (Feb. 26), said Holly Alexander, manager of Purdue Parking Facilities.

Available campus parking garages are the Wood Street Garage, Marsteller Street Garage, Northwestern Avenue Garage, University Street Garage, McCutcheon Garage and Harrison Street Garage. The Grant Street Garage will maintain normal operations. Students in Purdue residence halls are encouraged to use the McCutcheon Garage or University Street Garage.
