College of Education joins national STEM education network

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue University has a new partner in its work toward STEM education.

The College of Education is among several additions announced by the national network 100Kin10. The group is a coordinated effort to bring 100,000 new STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) teachers to schools by 2021.

Talia Milgrom-Elcott, executive director and co-founder of 100Kin10, says reviews show work by the College of Education has the potential to transform how STEM is taught in schools.

"We are honored to have been selected into the 2016 class of 100Kin10 partners," Dean Maryann Santos said. "The opportunity to learn from other leading programs and share from our own expertise is incredibly exciting."

100Kin10 partners have access to research, innovation and funding opportunities designed to foster collaborative problem-solving and support to overcome system-level challenges to reach the national network's goal.

Applicants are accepted as 100Kin10 partners following a rigorous vetting process.
