Christopher Lukasik, associate professor of English and American Studies, was awarded a $6,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The award will support writing and researching his new book project "The Image in the Text: Intermediality, Illustration, and Nineteenth-Century American Literature." Lukasik has presented over 70 papers on three continents and his work has been published in over a dozen journals. He is the author of "Discerning Characters: The Culture of Appearance in Early America." This year the NEH received over 800 applications and only 10 percent were funded.
