Appointments, honors and activities

Appointments and promotions:

- Rhonda Phillips, dean of Purdue’s Honors College and a professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics, has been named to the American Institute of Certified Planners College of Fellows for her achievements in urban and regional planning. Phillips is a community and economic development planning specialist whose work has been applied both in the United States and abroad. She is a three-time U.S. Fulbright Scholar, former president of the American Planning Association’s Economic Development Division and is currently president of the International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies. Notables:

Purdue claimed 48 total awards during the recent American Advertising Federation of North Central Indiana's annual ADDY Awards presentation. The awards honored creative excellence in advertising efforts during 2015. Overall, nine departments and organizations and seven individuals at Purdue won 29 silver ADDY awards, 11 gold ADDY awards, the Mosaic Award, the Rising Star Award, Presidential Cup Award, Judge's Choice Awards and Best of Show Awards. The Purdue areas recognized on Feb. 25 and their awards are: Purdue Athletics, judge's choice, three gold ADDYs and two silver ADDYs; Marketing and Media, best of show print, two gold ADDYs, six silver ADDYs; Purdue Research Foundation University Development Office, best of show electronic, best of show campaign, judge's choice, four gold ADDYs and two silver ADDYs; Purdue Alumni Association, seven silver ADDYs; Purdue Office of Research Communications, four silver ADDYs; College of Liberal Arts, Mosaic Award and two silver ADDYs; Hall of Music Productions, one silver ADDY; Student Life Operations Marketing, one silver ADDY; Human Resources Communications, one silver ADDY; Angie Klink, author, writer and Purdue alumna, lifetime achievement Silver Medal Award; Angela Petrie, multimedia writer, Marketing and Media, Rising Star Award; Scott Horton, creative director for Hall of Music Productions, Allison Meadows Beggs Presidential Cup Award; Lindsay Courtney, College of Liberal Arts student, one gold ADDY; and Rebecca Cravatta, a student in the College of Liberal Arts, $500 scholarship from AAF-NCI. Gold ADDY award winners advance automatically to the district competition later this month in South Bend, Indiana.
