Purdue Student Health Center now offers online appointments

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – In response to student comments to the Student Satisfaction Survey, the Purdue University Student Health Center has added online appointment scheduling to the center's services.      

The online function allows students to schedule appointments in sports medicine and in the women's, immunization and medical clinics, said Joy Loflin, the center's health information management director. "In the Student Satisfaction survey, a trend we saw was that students would like to schedule appointments online," Loflin said. "(PUSH director) Gail Walenga has definitely been very supportive, and we were able to meet the need quickly because we had already investigated the issue. The survey certainly reinforced the need for that service, and we're happy to be able to provide it."

To schedule an appointment, students can go to the PUSH website, http://www.purdue.edu/push. On the left side of the page, they will see "Online Appointment Scheduling Available Now," which directs them to the scheduling component. Students will have to use their Purdue career account login to access the scheduling and answer questions about their injury or illness to make the appropriate appointment visit.

Loflin said the health center is also working on appointment reminders via email and text messaging. Email reminders would be sent one day prior to an appointment, and a text message two hours before the visit. Students will need to opt in to take advantage of this service.

PUSH's Extended Care clinic is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays during the academic year. The medical clinic is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. Hours are reduced during semester breaks, and the center is closed on national holidays.
