September Center for Healthy Living workshops focus on healthy lunches, health coaching, weight management

September workshops at the Center for Healthy Living will focus on healthy lunches,  health coaching and weight management offering attendees a plethora of information and resources to better their overall health and wellness.

To register for these free workshops, call 49-45239. Limited seating is available for these small-group formats. The workshops will be at the Center for Healthy Living. Parking is available on site, and no permit is needed.

Building a Better Lunch
Sept. 2 (W). Noon-12:50 p.m. Register by Sept. 1.
Do you feel like you are in a lunchtime routine rut? Are you grabbing items at the last minute from your cabinets or pulling through the closest drive-through? Come learn about nutrition from the ground up, calorie balancing and the MyPlate tool. Also learn criteria for building a better lunch, techniques on portion control and tools for healthier dining out.

What is Health Coaching?
Sept. 9 (W). Noon-12:50 p.m. Register by Sept. 8.
What would you look and feel like at your ideal level of wellness? What kind of person do you want to be when it comes to your health and well-being? Come explore the principles of health coaching and how it is a structured, supportive partnership between you and the coach to effectively motivate behavior change. Let us show you how coaching can help in reaching your health vision and goals.

Weight Management
There are multiple sessions beginning in September:
* Thursdays, Sept. 17-Nov. 5. Noon-12:50 p.m. Register by Sept. 14.
* Tuesdays, Sept. 29-Nov. 17. 8-9 a.m. or noon-12:50 p.m.      
Register by Sept. 24.
Do you want to lose weight and don't know where to start? Do you want to adopt a healthy lifestyle? The time to act is now. Join us for an eight-week program geared toward helping you become a healthier you. The program is led by a registered nurse health coach who will help you identify issues that contribute to being overweight, assist in developing goals and strategies for successful weight loss and maintenance, provide support and guidance and lead discussions on nutrition and physical activity.

Center for Healthy Living workshops are free for benefits-eligible faculty and staff and spouses/same-sex domestic partners covered on a Purdue medical plan. Workshops are designed to educate attendees and improve their overall health. For more information on services offered at the center, visit the center online. The center is open 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Lab hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For medical assistance after hours or on weekends, contact the Anthem nurse line at 888-279-5449 for assistance.
