PSG asking for classroom moment of silence for 9/11 victims

September 11, 2015

Purdue Student Government is asking the campus, including classrooms, to observe a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. today (Sept. 11) in remembrance of the victims of terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, and in support for those affected by those attacks.

Corey Beck, PSG's executive director of communications, later said, "While PSG believes class time is very important, we ask professors teaching during the 8:30 time slot to take a moment, at 8:46, to briefly halt their class and politely ask students to reflect, in silence, in order to honor the lives lost by the attacks on 9/11."

PSG, at its September meeting, unanimously passed a bill pledging that PSG will observe such a moment of silence at that time each Sept. 11.
