Kids Cooking Clinics on the menu at the Co-Rec

Children can learn fun, easy and healthful cooking in a Kids Cooking Clinics this fall at the France A. Cordova Recreational Sports Center. Each of the three clinics will be led by cooking instructors from the Division of Recreational Sports.
A child is eligible if the child's family is affiliated with Purdue. Membership at the center, known as the "Co-Rec," is not required, but eligibility for membership is. The clinics will take place in the Demonstration Kitchen. Sign-up should be done in advance at the Member Services desk, but there is no registration deadline. The cost is $10 per clinic.
Participants will learn how to make delicious recipes in a hands-on, safe, and fun environment, and they'll taste everything along the way. All of the classes teach valuable knowledge and life skills, including basic culinary skills, food safety information and how to make healthy food choices.
The clinics are on Saturdays as follows:
Ages 5-8 at 10-11 a.m.
Ages 9-12 at 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Sept. 12: Pack a Healthy Lunchbox
Now that school is back in session, it’s the perfect time to learn how to prepare a healthy lunch you can bring with you. This class will show your child how to create a well-balanced lunch on their own. Recipes include Homemade Potato Chips, Apple Chips, Trail Mix, and various sandwiches and wraps.
Oct. 17: A Healthy Twist on Favorite Snacks
It’s Fall Harvest time! This class will teach your child how to make their favorite snacks healthier by adding in-season fruits and vegetables to their favorite foods. Recipes will include English Muffin Pizzas, PB&J Smoothies, Banana S’mores and Homemade Mac 'n' Cheese.
Nov. 21: Healthy Holiday Foods
This class will teach your child how to make fun holiday dishes that can be served at a family gathering or used as a holiday gift. Participants will learn how to make a fruit tray or edible arrangement, Peppermint Bark Popcorn, and Mashed Potatoes.
