International Students and Scholars announces new director positions

The Office of International Students and Scholars' (ISS) director position has been restructured into three new director positions: director of admissions and recruitment, director of international student services, and director of international scholar services.

"Growth in each area of ISS has demands unique to each audience from admitting international students to the needs of students and scholars once they are on campus," says Michael Brzezinski, dean of international programs. "We are adjusting our structure to offer the best possible services across campus."

Christine Collins is the director of international student services and Sharon Winslow is the director of international scholar services. These appointments are effective Sept. 1. Collins and Winslow were previously associate directors of immigration services.

These positions will oversee the various SEVIS, Student Exchange Visitor Information System, processes and procedures that assist Purdue students and scholars to maintain legal status and obtain various benefits such as employment authorization, extension of stay and travel endorsements. Winslow also will oversee the processes related to the hiring of international faculty and international researchers.

Bryant Priester was named director of admissions and recruitment this summer. His appointment was effective June 1, and he previously served as the assistant director for international recruitment. Priester, Collins and Winslow will report to Brzezinski, who previously served as ISS director from 1993-2009.

International Students and Scholars is a part of International Programs, which also is home to Study Abroad and the Student Integration Initiative.
