President Mitch Daniels on Thursday (Sept. 10) helped honor Stanford University professor and former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as she received the Indiana Sports Corp's 2015 Pathfinder Award.
Rice received the award for her significant work with America’s youth, specifically the Center for a New Generation, which she and her father founded more than 20 years ago.
The Indiana Sports Corp annually recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to improving the lives of America’s youth. Daniels and Jim Morris, vice chair of Pacers Sports & Entertainment, co-chaired the award dinner. Daniels and Morris are past Pathfinder honorees.
"Condi Rice is one of America’s great treasures, who has led a strikingly American life. No Pathfinder recipient could be more deserving, or a better example to our young people," Daniels said.
Former Purdue football player Rosevelt Colvin (1995-98) also was honored Thursday with the 2015 Rev. Charles Williams Award for Service to Youth by the Indiana Sports Corp.
Colvin established and runs the All-Pro Flag Football League in Indianapolis and coaches youth football and basketball teams. He serves as a trainer and mentor for young athletes preparing for the NFL Combine and draft at St. Vincent Sports Performance.
