March 27, 2015

Faculty and staff can learn ways to help manage their stress at the Center for Healthy Living's upcoming workshops.

Stress and Work/Life Balance
April 8. Noon-12:50 p.m. CHL Conference Room.
Does your life feel out of balance? Are you being pulled in too many directions and the stress is starting to build? Learn to recognize the sources of stress, how our body and mind react to stress and strategies for balancing our work- and home-life demands. The discussion will also include resources on the pathophysiology of laughter, coping mechanisms and relaxation techniques.

Intro to Yoga
April 21. Noon-12:50 p.m. CHL Conference Room.
What does stress do to us? We all experience stress to some degree, but how we cope with it is our decision. Participants will learn about the benefits of yoga, the different types of yoga offered and some basic poses they can do at home.

Workplace Fitness and Stretching
May 5. Noon-12:50 p.m. CHL Conference Room.
Do you ever feel like you need to stretch -- at work? Can you feel tension building up? Everyone has days where the stress level and tension seem overwhelming, and sitting at a desk sometimes doesn't help matters. Participants will learn stretching techniques that are easy to do at their desks.

The workshops will be held at the Center for Healthy Living in the Purdue West Shopping Plaza, 1400 W. State St. Parking is available on site, and no permit is needed.

To register, call 49-45239. All participants may register up to the day before the workshop. Limited seats are available.

The Center for Healthy Living offers programs on a variety of topics designed to educate employees and improve their overall health. For more information on services and workshops offered at the CHL, visit the center's Web page.
