Reception held for students with artwork on display at Westwood

President Mitch Daniels recognized student artists whose work is now on display at Westwood, the Purdue presidential residence, during a reception on Tuesday (March 3).

Student artwork has been shown at Westwood since 2000 as part of a semiannual juried art competition that takes place in September and February. The competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students, and the artwork is chosen by Anthony Cawdron, Westwood event coordinator and house manager. The artwork on display changes at spring and fall breaks.

The reception was being held for the 29 student artists and their friends and family. The students are:

* Alejandra Carrillo-Munoz, electronic time-based media.

* Ziyan Cheng, chemical engineering.

* Vi Chetan, visual communications design.

* James Copeland, fine arts and art education.

* Oren Darling, electronic time-based media.

* Molly Eber, visual communications design.

* Joyce Gordon, fine arts.

* Sarah F. Gordon, fine arts and art history.

* Kelli Hedinger, industrial design.

* Bernadette Herrera, visual communications design.

* Lindsey Howard, art education.

* Brittany Justice, art education.

* Jillian Justus, photography and related media.

* Jordyn Knott, visual communications design.

* Bailey Landis, art education.

* Lindsay McCormick, photography and related media.

* Stephanie Modlin, fine arts.

* Lauren Nagy, art education.

* Marlen Promann, interaction design.

* Cody Rainwater, visual communications design.

* Johanna Terpstra, fine arts.

* Kelsey Virden, photography and related media.

* Elizabeth Weaver, fine arts.

* Gabrielle Weinert, biology/pre-veterinary medicine.

* Xiaorui Yu, landscape architecture.
