Faculty and staff hosting events to help United Way

Purdue faculty and staff are holding campus-wide activities to raise money for the 2014 United Way campaign:

* The Office of Enrollment Management will hold a cake walk from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 24) at Centennial Mall. Tickets to participate are $1 each or six for $5. The rain date is 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday (Sept. 26) at the same location.

* The Division of Recreational Sports will host its fourth annual Zumbathon from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 25) in the Córdova Recreational Sports Center's Feature Gym. Aside from a freewill donation, there is no cost associated with the event.  Details

* Materials Management and Distribution is holding an ice cream sundae event at 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday (Sept. 26) at the Materials Management and Distribution Center, Room 106. A $3 donation is suggested.

* The Office of Student Services in the College of Health and Human Sciences is holding a candy gram sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday (Sept. 26) in Matthews Hall, Room 126. Candy grams may be purchased for $1.

Activities within units

United Way fundraising activities are also being held within University departments:

* The Department of Chemistry is holding a raffle for the seventh year in a row. Department members who turn in their pledge card will receive a raffle ticket. 

* The MAPPA Annual Meeting, hosted by Purdue on Sept. 16-20, raised $2,588 for Purdue's United Way campaign. MAPPA is the Midwest region of the APPA, a facilities management professional organization. The conference is attended by facility leaders from public and private universities, community colleges, K-12 schools, hospitals and museums.
