Exhibition, symposium to cover documentary photography
September 24, 2014
The Purdue Photography Program's Postmodern Documentary Photography Exhibition and Symposium will highlight current trends in documentary photography.
The symposium will include lectures and panel discussions by 20 nationally and internationally recognized artists and art historians addressing current trends in documentary photography: documentary form, documentary subject matter, challenging ethical norms and digital manipulation. The symposium, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 25) and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday (Sept. 26) in Lawson Computer Science Building, Room 1142.
The exhibition, which runs through Oct. 11 in the Patti and Rusty Rueff Galleries in Pao Hall, features examples of postmodern documentary photography. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and until 7 p.m. on Thursdays. The opening reception will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday.
The events are sponsored by a CLA Enhancing Research in Humanities and Arts Grant, which Min Kim Park, assistant professor of visual and performing arts, received last year.
