Weldon to serve as interim provost

Laurel Weldon, professor of political science, will serve as the University's interim provost June 1-30. Weldon will assume responsibility from Tim Sands, executive vice president for academic affairs and provost, who will become president of Virginia Tech University on June 1.
On July 1, Debasish "Deba" Dutta, currently associate provost and dean of the Graduate College at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, will become the University's next provost.
