WBAA reaches member drive goal through Day of Giving

May 5, 2014

Thanks to the support of listeners who made donations through Purdue's Day of Giving, WBAA has reached its spring member drive goal of welcoming 225 new individuals into the station's growing base of listeners who also contribute to the station financially.

WBAA reported in April during its spring member drive that only 1 in 16 of the station's 30,000 listeners supported the station financially. WBAA's goal through the drive was to bring that number closer in line to the national average of 1 in 10.

Following the spring member drive, WBAA announced that it would extend the drive's deadline to include any contributions made leading up to and through Purdue's Day of Giving on April 30. Through that 24-hour fundraising event, close to 400 donors made financial contributions to the station, including several first-time contributors who helped the station reach its new member goal of 225.

Total gifts raised for WBAA through Purdue's Day of Giving were close to $19,000, bringing total revenue generated through the spring member drive to more than $148,000 and also closing the gap to the $215,000 goal. WBAA thanked its listeners for their generosity and support, which will enhance the station's ability to bring quality programming and student affordability at Purdue through student employment opportunities and increased membership and community support of WBAA.
