Tagging of abandoned bicycles occurs this week; removal begins Monday

May 8, 2014

The Physical Facilities Grounds Department will mark all abandoned, improperly parked and/or broken-down bicycles for removal this week. Individuals who keep a bicycle on campus are advised to check their bicycle to be sure it was not tagged for removal before Monday (May 12), when removal of the marked bicycles will begin.

By tagging the bicycles, the Grounds Department gives the owners a chance to remove their own bicycles. If the bicycles are not removed by the owners, the Grounds Department will store them for 60 days before sending them to the Purdue Warehouse and Surplus Store for sale.

The only acceptable place to park a bicycle is on a bicycle rack. Bicycles parked on railings, trees, light poles or other inappropriate locations will be tagged for removal. Improperly parked and abandoned bicycles are removed throughout the year, but a special effort is made to remove bicycles near the end of the spring semester.

For questions regarding the bicycle removal process, contact the Grounds Department at 49-43087.
