Mortar Board offering graduate school fellowships
January 28, 2014
The Barbara Cook Chapter of Mortar Board is providing students wishing to pursue graduate studies with a merit-based funding source.
Mortar Board annually awards graduate fellowships to encourage Purdue students of high character and ability to pursue an advanced degree in graduate or professional studies. Through the awarding of these fellowships, Mortar Board seeks to benefit and recognize students who show potential leadership in their chosen field and in their community. Mortar Board will award no more than 10 fellowships, each in the amount of at least $2,500.
Applicants must receive a baccalaureate degree from Purdue in August 2013, December 2013 or May 2014 and plan to pursue an advanced degree in graduate or professional studies in fall 2014 or spring 2015, or be a student entering their third year of the College of Pharmacy's Pharm.D. program in fall 2014. A minimum graduation index of 3.2 is required. Excluding those in the pharmacy program, students entering any field at any institution are eligible.
In promoting the ideals of Mortar Board, selection of fellowship recipients is based on scholastic record, character, service to campus and community, and stated professional goals. Financial need is considered but is not the determining factor.
