Monday's offerings for Value Your Health Week include Right Price game, cooking demo

March 28, 2014

Value Your Health Week begins Monday with an array of events for faculty, staff and their spouses/same-sex domestic partners.

"Employees may attend events in paid status when they have their supervisor's approval," says Eva Nodine, benefits director in Human Resources. "We encourage supervisors to make the effort to allow staff to be away from the job for a while to take part in some of the week's activities."

Monday's events include:

* The Right Price interactive online game: All benefits-eligible faculty and staff will receive an email from Castlight Health on Monday, Thursday and Friday of next week. Each email will include a link to that day's Right Price challenge. Employees will be asked to choose the correct Greater Lafayette price range for a particular health care service. Those who choose incorrectly will get another chance.

Employees may play each of the three Right Price challenges one time. The employee's name will be entered in the game's prize drawing each time the employee plays. If the employee plays all three challenges, the employee will have three chances in the prize drawing.

Three Fitbit Flex Wireless Activity + Sleep Wristbands will be awarded through a Right Price drawing that will take place the week of April 7. A Fitbit Flex is a slim wristband that tracks activities -- such as steps and burned calories -- and tracks sleep quality. The Fitbit Flex Wristbands are being awarded by Anthem.

* "What's in Your Medicine Cabinet?" sessions: These one-on-one medication counseling sessions with Kamal Singh, Center for Healthy Living pharmacist, or with a Purdue School of Pharmacy student will answer questions about prescriptions and over-the-counter medications. Sessions will be available from 8 to 10 a.m. and 3 to 5 p.m. at the Center for Healthy Living, Purdue West Shopping Plaza. No appointment is needed. Those coming for a session should place all of their prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs and supplements in a bag and bring them to the session.

* Mediterranean Meals cooking demonstration: 3:30-4:30 p.m. Córdova Recreational Sports Center Demonstration Kitchen. Pre-registration required. Call Human Resources at 49-41779 to register.
